Freshers 2015 listen up! Here’s how to stay healthy and avoid the Fresher’s Flu if you’re off to University this year.
Around 90% of new students, apparently, end up with some sort of flu during their first few weeks of University. Combine lots of people mingling, lots of booze, lots of junk and some swapping of bodily fluids and it’s a hygiene disaster waiting to happen.
Here’s how to do your best to avoid Fresher’s Flu in 2015.
You may be going to University and not on safari but getting prepared can be a good idea with a flu jab and making sure you’re also properly protected from more serious infections such as meningitis.
A greasy kebab seems like fine dining at 3AM but try your best to avoid it, even if paralytic. Try and at least eat healthily during the day, with plenty of fresh fruit and veg.
Drink plenty of water
As well as eating healthy, drink healthy with plenty of water, both during the day and when out at night to help your body combat any potential Fresher’s flu infection.
Give yourself a break
You may started Fresher’s week determined to go to every night but it’s in your best interests to say no every now and then. You won’t miss anything. Probably.
Become a hygiene freak
Becoming a bit of a hygiene freak – even for the week – can help. Make sure to routinely wash your hands with warm soapy water.
When do you go out, give yourself plenty of time to recover with ideally at least 8 hours of sleep a night. Take naps when you can to catch up!
