If you're moving in to University in 2015, we've put together the ultimate Student Moving In Checklist 2015: A guide on what to take to University.

So if you're moving into Halls soon or even a private house or flat for your first year, here's the essential list of what you'll need.

To cut your costs, make sure you know what is and what isn't provided for you in advance so you don't shell out cash unnecessarily.

Hunt around for good deal and if you can pinch it from home for free, do it!

Documents

Wallet and Cash
Passport sized photos
Passport (if you've got one)
Driving License (if you've got one)
National Insurance number
Student Finance details
University letters
Bank cards
Travel cards (16-25 rail card, Oyster, etc.)
CRB check (if required)
Exam certificates (or copies, if required)

Personal items

Make up
Hair products (e.g. gel, spray)
Hair brush, comb, etc.
Deodorant, perfume
Tampons/Sanitary towels
Contraceptives
Personal medical supplies, such as prescription tablets or allergy medication
Wax strips/razor/epilator
Nail clippers
Glasses
Watch

Bedroom

Duvet
Pillows
Mattress, duvet and pillow covers (at least two sets)
Washing basket or bag
Rubbish bin
Door wedge
Desk lamp (not really essential but if you like)

Bathroom

Toilet tissue
Towels, Robe and flannel
Toothbrush + toothpaste
Shower gel, shampoo, etc.
Soap
Razor
Shaving gel/cream

First aid

Good to have a basic first aid kit somewhere around your flat with plasters, bandages etc.
Pain killers
Allergy relief
Cold/flu relief
Contraceptives
Sudocrem (for minor burns!)

Clothes

Lots of casual/day to day/wear to Uni stuff
Going out clothes
Plenty of underwear and socks
A good formal outfit could be useful
Mix of shoes for casual/going out/formal occasions
Rain coat
Winter coat
Scarf/gloves/mittens
Pyjamas/nightwear
Bag, satchel or rucksack

Electrical

Laptop
Mobile phone
Chargers
Memory sticks/cards
Head/ear phones
Assorted batteries
Hair dryer, straighteners, curlers, etc.
Multi-socket extension lead (will probably come in handy!)
Small printer, ink and paper (not essential but can be very useful)

Stationary

Notebook and plain paper
Pencil case
Pens, pencils, sharpeners and rubber
Stapler, hole punch, sellotape
Highlighters
Blu tack
Noticeboard and pins (some hall rooms may have these already)
Post it notes
Scissors
Paper clips
Folders
Plastic wallets
Calender/Planner/Diary

Kitchen

This whole list should be split between you and your flat/housemates. If no arrangements have been made in advance, we suggest providing some basics for yourself (plate, knife and forks, etc) and some ready to eat/easy to cook food to keep you going until everything is sorted.

Glasses (Normal, wine, shot)
Corkscrew and bottle opener
Mugs
Knives, forks and spoons
Plates (various sizes)
Bowls (microwave safe)
Baking trays and dishes
Scissors
Frying pan
Saucepans (at least one big and one small)
Tin opener
Chopping knifes (various sizes)
At least two chopping boards (don't contaminate raw meat!)
Vegetable peeler
Wooden spoon,
Utensil set (Spatula, tongs etc.)
Foil, cling film and sandwich bags
Towels
Washing up liquid and cloth
Oven gloves
FOOD AND DRINK!
