From not showering daily to even snacking on the toilet, our bathroom habits are constantly under scrutiny in the media.
Surveys reveal such shocking statistics that 4 out of 5 women admit to not showing daily – and another 62% of men don’t wash their hands after going to the bathroom. You could say that we’re nation full of dirty habits that surprisingly takes place within the one room we’re meant to be our very cleanest.
A recent survey carried out by Bella Bathrooms exposed that 42% of people admit to urinating in the shower, whilst 7% say that they do not wash AT ALL!!
Our hectic lifestyle is often the excuse that people use when discussing their lack of personal hygiene, but apart from being a little disgusting, there are serious health consequences when you fail to make it a priority. We come into contact with 100s of bacteria on a daily basis, and by making the effort to wash regularly, especially after using the toilet, you can lessen the risk of contracting illness and disease.
The bathroom seems to be a controversial space in the home, and not just because of its shocking hygiene statistics, but as it also appears to be the one room that holds the most Guinness records for the weird and random. Our obsession for washing habits seem to lie more in fun than necessity.
With the most recent world record for most people showering simultaneously, to Kevin “Catfish” McCarthy spending 340 hours and 40 minutes in the shower, the bathroom seems to make quite the unbelievable record breaker.
