Being good at procrastinating is a skill that all of us seem to develop as a student, often to our detriment.
Whether it's revision, coursework or just chores in your flat, getting started can often be the hardest bit.
With that in mind, here's our five step checklist to make sure you get all your work done.
Start with a to do list
Start off with a simple task by making a list of what you need to do and what you ultimately hope to get from finishing with from your project, day or week.
Help yourself by splitting bigger tasks into smaller ones, ideally that you can complete in a short time and tick off, mentally helping you see your progress.
Get the hardest things out of the way
Try and get the toughest of your tasks done as soon as is possible, and organise more favourable chores - assuming you can find any! - throughout the day and towards the end.
Also make sure you complete any important and time dependent tasks first, not only for the peace of mind but also so you're more free to change your schedule if something comes up.
Next, physically remove your distractions.
Turn off you phone and place it in another room. Hide your tablets, laptops and other gadgets - if you've got a brother, sister, flatmate, etc. then get them to put them somewhere without telling you!
If you need to be on the internet, consider installing a temporary website blocker to ban yourself from distracting websites and your favourite social networks.
Take a break!
Don't work yourself into an unmotivated mess, take regular breaks, make sure you eat and drink and enjoy yourself!
But insist on limits: If you want to keep on task, give yourself an hour or two free time and stick to it! Set a timer and make sure you enforce the limit.
Finally, reward yourself for a good job well done. Completed your morning run? Enjoy a nap! Whether it's sleeping, food, games or just time spent browsing Facebook, get into a habit of encouraging yourself to get your work done.
